Pasco’s WA-PIRC center had a successful year offering classes at no cost to parents, as well as keeping them supplied with meaningful information and parent resources. Some of the more popular classes offered were Beginning Computers, How to Navigate the Internet, and a presentation was given by Work Source. Cyber Stop, WA-PIRC’s partner, will continue to stay open from 4:00-7:00 Monday-Thursday and Saturday from noon to 4:00 p.m. Students and adults alike are really enjoying having Internet access and use of computers in their neighborhood. WA-PIRC also partnered with Mid Columbia Library Systems to provide an evening entitled Families Reading Together, which included many interactive literacy activities. The Reading Foundation supplied literature books for all of the children. The last Advisory Committee meeting was held on March 5, whereby parents, school administrators, and community members had an opportunity to give input as to the needs of the community and its link to schools.
