Basin City’s WA-PIRC had a successful year offering classes at no cost to parents, as well as keeping them supplied with meaningful information and parent resources. Some of the more popular classes offered were Beginning Computers, Financial Literacy, and English as a Second Language. Connell high school students living in Basin City provided necessary child care. WA-PIRC partnered with Mid Columbia Library Systems to provide an evening entitled Families Reading Together, which included many interactive literacy activities. The Reading Foundation supplied literature books for all of the children. The last Advisory Committee meeting was held on March 20, whereby parents, school administrators, and community members had an opportunity to give input as to the needs of the community and its link to schools.
